CPNHS Welcomes the Year of the Fire Horse with a Joyful Chinese New Year Celebration
February 16, 2026
Colors of red, festive greetings, and vibrant cultural activities filled the campus of Catalunan Pequeño National High School during the 2026 Chinese New Year Mini-Program. Led by the SPFL Chinese-Mandarin learners and guided by Local Chinese-Mandarin teachers Mrs. Juliet P. Asodisen and Mr. Dennis Paul C. Cabrera, the program gave everyone an engaging experience of Chinese language and traditions.
The celebration opened with a graceful Chinese fan dance performed by selected Grade 8 SPFL learners, followed by a message and ceremonial gong-striking led by School Principal Ma’am Ritchelle D. Armamento. Participants also practiced traditional Chinese New Year greetings such as Xīn Nián Kuài Lè (Happy New Year) and Gōng Xǐ Fā Cái (Wishing you prosperity), embracing the spirit of renewal and good fortune.
Non-SPFL learners explored the Chinese zodiac while SPFL learners dressed in animal costumes explained the traits and fortunes of each sign. Participants tested their knowledge through a lively trivia game, received hóngbāo as prizes, and hung their wishes on the Tree of Good Fortune, symbolizing hope, prosperity, and new beginnings.
The celebration concluded with a spirited group dance to “Gong Xi Gong Xi,” filling the campus with energy, joy, and a shared sense of optimism. The program highlighted how learning, culture, and community come together to create meaningful experiences that inspire appreciation for diversity and strengthen connections among learners.
新年快乐! 恭喜发财!
